Victoria McDonnell, Artist

Victoria is a Colombian born artist, that trained as a product designer in Bogota and who moved to Norfolk 27 years ago. A farmers daughter, wife and a mother of two, Victoria has subsequently developed a special relationship with the Norfolk and Breckand landscape, particularly while walking around the quiet country lanes with her two dogs, Lola and Matilda.

To build her creative library, Victoria collects information from the surrounding landscape which ignites a deep desire to create. She regularly gathers from her walks a ‘pocket collection’ of branches, seed heads, hedge row flowers, stones or pebbles. Victoria returns to her studio to react to the colours, shapes, textures, patterns of nature as a starting point of her creative process. Victoria works in a wide variety of subject matter, landscapes, florals and birds, primarily using oils. She studied  and was trained by Martin Kinnear and Rosin O’Farrell. Victoria’s interests have widened in the relationship between the abstract and the realistic, the unpredictable and the relatable; which has led her to explore abstract painting on the Art and Success Program with Pamela Caughey.  Victoria comments “Creativity is the place that I go, it centres me, it sustains me and gives me joy”.

producing the catalogue

For the 2023 catalogue, Centrado wanted to better showcase the mouldings and embarked on a project to frame a picture for each of the 50 Centrado ranges. It was important to use a variety of art genres. Working with Victoria McDonnell Centrado were able to use a variety of artwork pieces from her studies, artistic journey and collection which she kindly loaned for the project. To give a full depth of styles, Centrado also selected a range of artistic prints to give customers a realistic perspective of the moulding ranges and their versatility. There are many components to producing a catalogue and we are most grateful to all the staff and suppliers involved.
